Hey now!

As much of an attempt at being deep as that introduction was, for my big kick-off post on this blog I’m simply going to point out the greatness that was The Larry Sanders Show.

Running for six seasons between 1992-98, this show really put HBO on the map as must-have pay TV.  For all you non-fans of the show, it was a comedy that took a behind-the-scenes look at a late night talk show and all the trials and tribulations of its celebrity guests, producers, writers and crew members.  At the forefront of all of the backstage comedic chaos was the host, Larry Sanders played by Garry Shandling.

For my money, this was the best show HBO ever produced right next to The Sopranos.  And oh, sweet baby Jesus, it is FINALLY on DVD!

All 89 episodes spread over 16 discs, and a bonus one making it 17 in total.  I think I just peed my pants a little.

A taste of Larry Sanders, and his chrome-dome sidekick, Hank Kingsley…
